Petition Submission Form

When a completed Petition Submission Form and Petition is received, it will be reviewed to ensure it complies with the Municipality's Petition Policy and the person who submitted the form will be contacted by Legislative Services with the next steps. 

Petitions received by the Clerk that do not meet the requirements set out below will be returned to the individual or group that initiated the petition.

  • The Clerk will not accept any petition containing improper, obscene, or offensive language or information.
  • Petitions must clearly state the issue or cause they seek to address and specify the desired outcome of the action.
  • The subject matter of the petition must be within Council's authority to act.
  • Petitions must contain the name, address and original signature of each person signing the petition.
  • Petitions must be supported by at least 25 signatures.
  • If electronic, the petition must contain the name, address, and valid email of each person signing the petition.
  • Each page of the petition should be numbered with a total number of pages indicated, and
  • Contain a disclosure that the document is a public document and that personal information, names, signatures and comments contained in the petition will be included on a public Council Meeting Agenda and shall form part of the public record.

Personal information is being collected and will be used for the purpose of informing Leamington Council as to your views on a matter of public interest or concern. As specified in this petition. Your information may be made public through the course of a Council meeting and corresponding agenda and minutes. Personal information, as defined by Section 2 of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) is collected under the authority of the Municipal Act, 2001 and will be maintained for the purpose of creating a record that is available to the general public in accordance with the provisions of MFIPPA.
